The World Health Organisation’s emergencies chief said it’s possible the new Coronavirus may be here to stay, warning it’s impossible to predict when the pandemic might be controlled.

“This virus may never go away,” Dr Michael Ryan said in a news briefing on Wednesday (May 13, 2020). He said that the number of people infected by COVID-19 so far is relatively low. Without a vaccine, he said, it could take years for the population to build up sufficient levels of immunity to it.

This virus may never go away, Dr Michael Ryan said in a news briefing on Wednesday (May 13, 2020). He said that the number of people infected by COVID-19 so far is relatively low. Without a vaccine, he said, it could take years for the population to build up sufficient levels of immunity to it.

“This virus may become just another endemic virus in our communities,” he said, noting that other previously novel diseases such as HIV have never disappeared, but that effective treatments have been developed to allow people to live with the disease. Ryan said there remains hope that an effective vaccine will be developed, but even then, it would require a huge amount of work to produce the shots and distribute them worldwide to people willing to be immunised.

After two months of lockdown, stay-home looks like a privilege. Some countries have eased locked down. Some are preparing to lift it. If the virus is here to stay and there is no hope of effective vaccine and treatment, then we must prepare ourselves.

We must be mentally prepared to accept the changes in our lives to survive. At one point in time, we have to go out when the lockdown is lifted. In our workplaces, there will be new certain rules and regulations. Our social life is going to change.

Everything is subject to change and we, humans, are used to embracing change. We don’t know how long this virus will room the earth. We must be mentally prepared to accept the changes in our lives to survive. At one point in time, we have to go out when the lockdown is lifted. In our workplaces, there will be new certain rules and regulations. Our social life is going to change. Our economy will face a huge challenge. At the time of writing this article, we don’t see after COVID-19 situations.

We have to continue amid COVID-19. If there is a post-COVID-19 situation, the world is going to be completely a different place. We must come out from our illusions and accept the reality to move on and to live. Stay safe and be mentally sound.
