Spread the love

Reading Time: < 1 minute

An inward looking, evocative poem, about the sense of pain, by Neelam, exclusively for Different Truths.

You look at the splinters
Of the broken mirror
And laugh.

The laughter takes you back
To the time
When your heart was first broken.
In that moment,
There were a million shards,
And the sharpest had stabbed your veins
Benumbing your heart,
Blood had simply oozed out everywhere silently,
Making you numb.

Life kept breaking you now and then,
But the shards only grew in size,
Diminishing in quantity;
Wound in the heart kept decreasing,
And now you are lifeless.

May be
No further breaking is now possible.
You are as intact and stoic
As a huge stone.
