The golden jubilee celebrations of Sahaja Yoga Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi. was on Tuesday, May 5. A report by Sushmita exclusively for Different Truths.

The temple at the remote sunset point above Dal Lake in Himachal Pradesh is an oasis of serene calm amidst the humdrum busyness of tourists from far and near, getting their photos clicked or better still taking a selfie perhaps to upload on their social media accounts to announce to the world the fantastic places where they had been.

I took refuge in this temple, the temple of the Adi Shakti Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi. Folklore has it that the short-tempered Rishi Durvasa meditated on that very spot to cool down his temper (pingala-nadi as per the shastras) and go beyond.

The teeming tourists bubbling with excitement, all the noise, honking taxis big and small, moving ever so slowly due to lack of space created a headache unknown in intensity so I took refuge in this temple, the temple of the Adi Shakti Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi. Folklore has it that the short-tempered Rishi Durvasa meditated on that very spot to cool down his temper (pingala-nadi as per the shastras) and go beyond. This modest temple of tranquillity is dedicated to Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi. She gave humanity the supreme gift of self-realisation, the veritable goal of our ancestors to know the creator, the source that created this universe. In order to achieve this goal our forefathers left for sannyaas (abdication of the material world, desires and comforts) or van-prastha ashram (renunciation of maya i.e. worldly life). Thanks to Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, people i.e. seekers of truth have no longer to give up their families and friends to achieve enlightenment.

On the 5th day of May 1970 enunciated the ancient processes mentioned in the Vedas 14,000 years ago of giving en-masse self-realisation by raising the kundalini – three and a half coiled serpent-like structure in our sacrum bone. The Greeks called it the sacrum bone, a triangular bone at the bottom of the spine, lying between the fifth segment of lumbar spine and the tailbone. The name ‘sacrum’ reflects awareness in the ancient Greeks about the importance of this bone. When this kundalini, residing in the sacrum bone, gets enlightened, it rises through the seven chakras starting with Mooladhara chakra and joins the param chaitanya as it passes through the Sahasrara chakra on the top of the head. This enlightenment results in numerous benefits viz. physical, mental, emotional and social amongst others.

This year celebrates the fifty years of the opening of Sahasrara by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi. The prevailing lockdown has brought together many people across several countries and varied communities who practice this yoga (union with God) as Sahaja yogis across the world meditated together thanks to social media taking collectivity to a new level.

The practitioners of this yoga are called Sahaja Yogis. Sahaja yogis from over fifty countries joined online meditations to meditate together and enjoy the journey of self-knowledge resulting in peace within. The best part is to experiment it yourself to experience this union with god i.e. yoga. Better still, it is free of charge just like the sunshine and air we breathe. Meditation was never so easy and effortless, I can say for I have been doing this for over a quarter of a century now.
