Sushant Singh Rajput is the latest person list of those who committed suicide. Love, compassion and a willingness to listen to the woes of people around us might go a long way to save precious lives, says Shivani. An exclusive for Different Truths.

Sushant Singh Rajput, Jiah Khan, Guru Dutt, Preksha Mehta, Monal Naval, Chester Bennington, Neal Casal, Kurt Cobain and many more that we are not aware of have killed themselves for reasons known and unknown. I am sure most of us have heard these names and it was almost very big news for days. But, then their voices just died away being absorbed by the walls of plaster, of minds known as ‘mental stress’.

Regardless of the person’s social status, job, reputation, wealth, fame, culture, religion, tradition, race, gender identity and everything that goes with it, everyone suffers with anxiety, breakdowns, illness, downfalls, breakthroughs, helplessness, hopelessness and lastly confusion, whether to end this here and try to find peace or to keep fighting. These names are known but there are millions of others who have not been called out and maybe never will, as adults there seems to be a lot of responsibilities and stress on their heads pushing them forward with these thoughts but teenagers and adolescents too suffer through a lot of mental stress and give up.

These early age suicides are very common and the attempts are even more common. The saddest parts about them are that rarely anyone gets to know, apart from their family and friends. Firstly, Rest in Peace to all those souls who have given up and now talking about how it all falls down. It is really strange that we don’t know which person we have met for the first and the last time. We perhaps can never know. None of us is actually mentally healthy, there are times when all of us, breakdown and start to lose hope, the difference is that some fight it well and the others fight but lose within themselves, to themselves.

It is our duty as friends, family, coworkers, partners, mates or even as anyone known, to help each other out, to motivate them, to talk it out, to pull each other out of this dark pit of despair. Spreading hate and talking behind backs along with the excess pressure and competition in the real world, it is likely for us to feel this way.

Spreading hate and talking behind backs along with the excess pressure and competition in the real world, it is likely for us to feel this way. But please, it is a humble request to all of you reading this, don’t harm yourself in any way. Talk it out. Afterall pain is decreased once shared and all of us should also be ready to help someone out, even if we don’t understand one word of what they are talking. We should at least listen, and share the emotion of extreme pain, just to show them you are there. To let them know that you care because everyone on this planet deserves their chances. Each one deserves love, respect, care, trust and support.

It is important for us to understand these emotions and not just kick it off with comments like, ”why are you so cranky?” or “crybaby” or “you should forget about it, chill” or “what is your problem, it is not even that severe that you are crying over it”. We should instead say, ”I am there”, “cry it out to me”, “I will help you out, tell me what you are feeling”. No kind of feeling is justified or reserved or right for the moment. Smallest of things can break people. It is okay because it is what they feel and can not control. So, it is a request from my side, for all of you, to hear people out, make them comfortable and make them realise that no matter what happens, there is always someone out there to help them. Someone they can cry to because they are loved and we care about them.

Here is a poem for those who feel this way, justifying the fact that we are all one same page at different lines. Please share this amongst your fellow mates and show them support and lift them up. After all, this place is not a black hole of shattering hearts as glass shatters into pieces. It is not well with saddest eyes but with smiling faces. We can do better. We can heal this place, this generation. We can make humanity count on us.

Talking about the highs and lows,
Cheering up to get better,
Smiling through mental and emotional breakdowns,
Passing by the most dangerous thoughts,
Killing certain feelings for someone worth the hope,
Pretending to pull ourselves out with this rope,
You are here,
I am here too.

Sitting in the darkest rooms with the darkest moods,
Anxiety kicking in, like fallen fools,
Thinking what could be worse while everybody around knows it is true.
Gaining some courage to kick this through.
You are here,
I am here too.

Walking apart but minds intact,
Bodies covered in a paste of disinterest,
All the judgemental comments hitting you,
You are here,
I am here too.

Scared,
Of the breaking opening out,
Of the curiosity bursting loud,
Of the tears uncontrollably sound,
Of the voices unexpectedly bound,
Of the past crying out loud,
You are here,
I am here too.

They say, “go with the flow”,
But sometimes it seems hard for us to let go,
As these days are ending,
Convicting darkness over the brightest clouds,
Not waiting for the end of the last.
Afraid, too afraid to fall out of the head,
Foolishly smiling in the pain instead,
You are here,
I am here too.

Prioritising and keeping everyone’s burden on your shoulder,
Carrying every possible scenario in your head,
Fulfilling every word that you ever said,
Keeping all the secrets you wish you had never kept,
You are here,
I am here too.

Burdened hearts and chaotic heads,
Happiest faces with the saddest minds,
Hoping to see the change,
Scared to measure up the tears that you shed,
You are here,
I am here too.

Bodies wrapped up in opinions of others,
Struggling to show your real self,
Putting on a mask each morning,
Promising yourself that you will remove it somewhere else,
You are here,
I am here too.

Light will push in through the cracks,
Love will again pull out,
Your body will see the change,
And your mind will be loud.
Chaos will untangle,
You will believe ,
You will rise,
And look down to the beautiful places you have outgrown,
And wonder how these moments all etched in time,
Give you the satisfaction of your growth.
You will be there,
I will be there too,

You are there for the world,
And I will be there for you.

An excellent piece! Many people have suicidal tendencies; some some overcome them and some fail to do so. The essence of the matter is to look problems afflicting you straight in the eyes and not allow yourself to succumb to them.
