With Q4 coming to a close on March 31, Preeyan tells us what are our career prospects in the new financial year (FY) 2020-2021. An exclusive for Different Truths.
When I write this, I write for those who are looking forward to a year of new beginnings. With the close of a decade and the start of a new one, as Indians what is it that we all want? It is commonly told that this decade will be when India will surpass China. This is when India will be the go-to market to test any new technology. This decade is when the country will go on a drive to improve infrastructure.
We start spending more time on thoughts than commuting to work and back. Most of us will accept that it is then that we all lose a lot of time. Is it worth the while? Here is the need, we then work out a way to get technology to influence our lives transforming wasted hours to productive time.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has forced most of us to work from home, worldwide. Is there a lesson in it in the new FY? Our entertainment quotient gets more expensive and yet we spend more on that.
But this is for the cities. Towns will transform to urban hubs. Villages will get smart and technically sound. More educated people start to invest in organic farming. We start to eat healthy and live better or so we think. The food we consume becomes more nutritious, yet we consume more packaged food than fresh produce. There will be an opportunity in every field if we just spend some time looking for answers. This decade we will realise that there are opportunities for business in every field.
Sustainability will become a key for every corporate and sustainable energy, sustainable manufacturing, sustainable economy and sustainable city is what every city and town will look forward to. The idea is to take something and give something in return, reduce waste and reduce plastic use.

The idea is to take something and give something in return, reduce waste and reduce plastic use. Produce more energy using solar, wind and other natural methods than just polluting the environment. Our cars will become Hybrid, and this will make our consumption of fossil fuel low. We will have more electric cars and the hydrogen cell engine will become a reality. Our aircrafts become the safest mode of travel and accidents on roads and railways reduce.
Yet we may have to brace ourselves to what the weather gods will have to through at us for all the abuse we have done to nature. Climate change is in and we have already done the damage. It will take years before we are able to reverse the effect of what has already happened. We need to accept it and move on and I sincerely hope that all the research that has gone into the topic of climate change start seeing some actionable change and the world is a better place.
Our biggest trouble will be with the availability of clean drinking water. It is dwindling and it is the reality. But we will turn things around. When Israel can manufacture machines capable to produce clean drinking water from thin air it is encouraging to all of us that we can turn things around.

But if we all put our minds together and help in the smallest little way possible, we will be able to create an impact in this field. The only thing I can think off is being able to store rainwater, try to recharge ground water by contributing to the way we can conserve water that is available. It is this that I have taken a resolution to do something in this field.
How is all this going to affect my career? You may think. This is very important as we will have lesser opportunities with growing corporates we will look into alternate fields for career and education. We will try to learn more things on Sustainability we will try to do more work on sustainable energy and many other fields. If you actually think of it as per Newtons law, every action has an equal and opposite reaction which means that energy changes state and does not get lost, it only gets wasted is we find a way to utilise this wasted energy we will be able to respond to most of our issues that we have. It is this kind of thinking that will transform the way we live.
With this decade, we will have the generation X, Y and Z all competing in the same space. We are all setting the platform for the generation A of the new age. People with more experience are no longer the right fit, it is the people with forward thinking who will be taking the lead.

It will no longer be that your boss is older to you, it will be that your boss is intellectually stronger than you, age will not matter and experience will now start to loose its value. Pay by experience and position will be come pay by intellectual quotient and pay by ROI.
It is important that we accept, encourage and move on about this. Life is going to change and world needs to be a better place. With all the people I know, I only feel that it will be worth saving this world in every way possible. All the people the animals and Birds and the natural paradise that we cherish the most. We all need to accept the fact and take this world to the next level and make it a place that the new generation A will be proud of the heritage and legacy we have left for them.
