It is said that that you can bring a horse near the source of water, but you cannot force it to drink the water. If the humans are the horse, then it wouldn’t take rocket science to figure out what is water. Yes, it is our mentality or perspective or whichever fancy term one would like to use. Humans are brilliant, for they have a brain of their own. Using their intelligence and resilience, humans have evolved over the years overcoming all the obstacles that have blocked their path. Hence, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that humans love to change but don’t like to learn.

Compulsive decluttering has been man’s habit ever since the inception of evolution. When man discovered fire, he rejected the idea of using the moonlight, which earlier aided him in the dark. When he discovered the telephone, he rejected the idea of face-to-face communication. When he discovered the art of making a shelter using brick and mortar, he rejected the idea of living together under a common roof. When he discovered technology, he discarded the idea of relying on himself for getting the smallest chores done. And finally, when he discovered that his intelligence could help him reach the highest pedestal, his god-complex discarded his respect for other beings. This trait persists in every individual and the common reason that every individual uses to disrespect others is the judgmental mindset.
Our mind is a difficult organ; it can spurn the good or accept the bad and one wouldn’t even realise the reason behind its ploy. Science says that dopamine is the hormone that produces positive feelings and helps in coping with stressful situations. Science also says that another hormone, Cortisol, flows more freely inside our systems and that stimulates negative thoughts. Probably, when the human body discovered about cortisol, it decided to suppress dopamine and as a result, we all have turned out to be mere armchair critics. The only job we all do fine is to judge others. Mockery, sarcasm, and hurtful comments have taken over the language that we had been using to communicate. Whether it is the skin colour of the person or his ability — we do not leave any stone unturned in passing our expert comments and belittling another person. It is saddening to realise and introspect about how far man has come from nature! The soul that connected man to nature is no longer there; what lies within is a ghoul that feeds on the qualities of others and leaves them out to die and decay. Unlike the other species, man doesn’t know how to co-exist in harmony and peace. All he knows is how to wreak havoc and create more chaos and madness.
The society is a make-belief world that has laid out several invisible boundaries. If one dares to cross those, the entire clan comes down heavily upon the accused. On a small-scale level too, the judgement of the society is the governing force behind what a man decides to do. Ironically, even when we call ourselves democratic, we remain satisfied under an autocratic ruler.

Ironically, even when we call ourselves democratic, we remain satisfied under an autocratic ruler. Pig-headed that we all are, we refuse to take a stand or call a spade a spade. What we do know and want to do is to take down the one odd man who has the audacity to question the trend or begin a new trend. Discriminating based on the body shape, body weight, complexion, caste, religion, financial status, knowledge, calibre and whatnot, we deem ourselves as the wisest beings.
How foolish of us to believe that we are stronger than the earth or the sea, the ocean or the mountains! How silly of us to think we can win the race by making our own our enemies! How desperate are our wants! How thankless are our hearts! There is heaven on Earth but man seeks heaven elsewhere and, in the process, digs a pathway to hell. What is the use of all that intelligence when the word ‘acceptance’ has exited our dictionaries? What is the use of the facade of harmony when the peace of mind doesn’t exist anymore? The world would have been a happier place had man accepted his fellow mates with an open heart rather than with a clogged mind that condemns anything and everything.
