Whispers of Nature: Haikus that Speak to the Heart

Spread the love

Reading Time: < 1 minute

These poems, by Jennifer, explore nature’s symphony, longing, devotion, uprootedness, resilience of a cat, and a heartfelt lament for Vincent, reflecting missed connection opportunities, exclusively for Different Truths.

crickets chatter on
the bank of the lake at dusk
marking day’s closing
gossiping together like
old ladies on the front stoop

***

Saturday morning
my very first thought is you
I float on your love –
that was our day
to spend together

***

overnight I am
a refugee from my life
new home all alone
unwanted separation
from my family

***

She was found wandering
the streets on 9/11
our cat came home to us
kindest soul you’d ever meet
despite being abandoned

***

Vincent
I wish I could have
shown you your belovedness
while you were alive
you’re my Starry Night.
