Spread the love

Reading Time: 2 minutes

An inward-looking poem, by Rekha, that thanks the Lord for the journey of life, exclusively for Different Truths.

The happiness and bliss
Of being in this beautiful world
With all its highs and lows
Having learnt life’s precious lessons
Life not by length of years,
But by fulfilment of moments.
Short indeed maybe my tour of duty
But the fruits of labour are surely delicious.

Enough I have seen, wish I can be blinded,
And what I have heard, I need rest from all sacrilege.
And surely, I don’t need your clemency,
I am in a state of absolute euphoria
It’s so very true, one realises the value
Only after one loses or is gone forever.
No opponent, no one to compete with,
Enjoying the camaraderie of the divine.

Time well spent, not in paltriness,
But in laughter and joy,
Always together and without any prejudice
The quietude and calm that I feel,
Being in the Kingdom of Heaven
Forced to wonder, to contemplate,
The world I left behind would be akin
Where relationships, I wish
Would be more worthwhile and meaningful

Death, unlike life, has a precise connotation
It’s a journey to the more existent
Why do I then need to feel trepidation?
As the curtain falls, in a few fleeting moments.
Life well lived, with purpose and in love
Death too will be a rewarding escapade.
Leaving behind all that was mine
No feeling of despair, but only my triumph.

Born alone, we also die unchaperoned
With none to succour or pacify
As I drift into an everlasting sleep,
My soul on yet another exciting travel
A journey across the spectrum of time
To be embraced and held by Him
To meet with my loved ones,
Waiting to welcome me with open arms.

Without any regret or penitence
The aching desire to leave a world,
Filled with malice, jealousy, and hostility
Into a world, purer and more transcendent
Sacred in deeds and honest in thoughts
Where conversations are melodious,
And feelings as light as a feather,
Receiving love so sterling and unscathed.

To be missed by all I leave behind,
Engulfed in a sense of trance,
As I am lifted in spirits and reverence
Ready to finally meet my maker
I stand with my head bowed
This, my dream, my prayer, my desire
Waiting for that divine moment to arrive,
And I shall bid adieu to this world.
