Spread the love

Reading Time: < 1 minute

An evocative love poem, by Basudeb, exclusively for Different Truths.

Look at the moon, she is jealous,
To you, my beloved joyous,
You my darling outreaches her,
Though she is arrayed,
By hundred thousand stars,
Alas! The moon is outshined by your lustre.

I say my lady then, how can I compare you,
With the moon, the darkness already eclipses her,
My lady nods, the Bright star is luminous,
She is steadfast like your lasting yearning for me,
So my lady swans,
Her love for me is like a doting mallard.

The enticing smile,
Of my lady’s lips dewed,
Looks shiny and constant,
Unlike the moon waxing,
Above the horizon of the desert,
The moon now melts and she is dimmed.
