Reading Time: < 1 minute

Dr Molly’s evocative poem talks of generations navigating life’s twists, contemplating the cycle of repeats and loss of inheritance in a world of modern distractions exclusively for Different Truths.

the car moves off
            negotiating
curves...

you sit at the back
with
         your husband
grandchildren...

          kids babble
sweet nothings
          drifting off
to sweet slumber...

            husband
silenced to
           nothing,
gropes for the phone…

In the front seat
          the young
parents
              building
their own worlds...

conversations
         cackling...

save for a
      random query
        from your son,
marked exclusivity.!

       the float some
presences…
             required or
redundant?

is it a cycle
         of repeats?

generations
             ride ahead
taking things
           for granted
be it elders,
         or things that
belong to the.
            previous...

the inheritance
                of loss
of human bonding
predicated on
        the modern, mundane,
                fleeting
        shores...
