Spread the love

Here’s a poem of love and longing, by Mamta, exclusively for Different Truths.

I draw you in my canvas of imagination
I write about my desires and secret obsession
I wish I could be yours
But I know you are never meant to be mine

My feelings for you are strong
Loving you, however, is all kinds of wrong
For you are already taken
I don't mind my love being hidden

Sometimes I wish I could let you go
But each time I try, my heart says 'No.'
I wish I could steal you with my glance
But damn, God has forbidden that chance

I wish I could hold you in my arms
And my morning glows with your rosy charms
But the thoughts rust in the dream
Making me realize things are not what they seem

I dare to ask you for a kiss
I dare to beg you for a smile
Then my heart whispers
I am a fool to even feel like this
And dream of walking with you all the while

I don't know what I am even waiting for
When I know, you can't be mine and
I can't be yours
But I have started living with this lie
And will keep loving you until
I say my last goodbye
