How Nature Mirrors Our Deepest Existential Fears

on the beach
abstracted figures:
furtive fingers

shared joys
making of memories
dolphin leap

standing in shade
of shadow in courtyard
eats fig dried in sin

hand-sized cloud
rain right behind it –
await storm

in the clouds
reading his future:
late autumn

fun days end:
no more foot traffic
empty street

change in sun’s colour
vanishing stars’ quiet nudge
hang in the balance

no apples –
satan breeds bombs in
god’s kingdom

dreaming of home
come to strangers seeking
their own shelter

no birds sing
in the moonless sky:
mourning trees
