Suchismita laments that sycophancy and nepotism have such deep roots in Bollywood and politics that real talents are being edged out. An exclusive for Different Truths.

In our childhood, we were guided by our parents that you need to make your own future by your own, you have to single-handedly strengthen the soil beneath your feet, etc., etc. I clearly remember I was my momma’s girl and used to depend on her in each and every work, let it be learning walk to going to place absolutely 10 hands distance from our house. Though the phases of growing up have taught me to be self-reliant on account of my father’s mental illness, my mother’s overpressure and health breakdown in maintaining the equilibria of professional life and housework. I started taking responsibility on my own. This resulted in a peaceful smile on my mother’s face.

In today’s era, our youth is much likely to be more engrossed or sublimed into the gossips of Bollywood or politics. Like, from raising a storm in a cup of chai in tea-stalls to turning any issue into a heated debate in the blink of an eye, be it Bollywood or politics. These bagged the 1st position in our day-to-day chit-chat or gossip session. Sometimes, hot discussions led to serious fights, which is never considered sober.

I don’t know it’s me or others too think that such meaningless fights are inconsequential. The high profile personas don’t give a damn to such bickerings.

Nowadays, the business of politicians, in particular, is to divide people. The trend is on the rise. Middle-class families like ours always guide us to be self-dependent. We have to think about our future and fend for ourselves. But the rich brats, those with silver spoons from their birth don’t have to struggle a little bit for their future as their famous fathers or mothers have been ensuring their secure future, a la spreading the red carpet for Lady Fortune to smile and shower her blessings on them.

If we notice carefully, nepotism has spread its tentacles far and wide. It’s a growing sphere in recent decades shock us! Be it electioneering (read politics) or the Bollywood industry, the gharana or the dynasties of politicians and actors,

those self-satisfied kids are cherishing every bit of their advantages of stepping into their parents’ shoes.

In the politics, a self-made, intellectual candidate has to play the second fiddle and accept their nominations to be turned down or face the loss to a sycophant, an ineligible nominee belonging to the kith and kin of a famous politician, if they aren’t from his family. As a result, we lose the deserving candidate, a rightful claiment to the chair. They would probably do justice to the people they represent. They are likely to ensure better implementation of various schemes and programme of the local governing bodies (like panchayats and municipalities), state government or the Centre.

Sadly, politics — and Bollywood — is a major industry. The gains are immense. This is the way nepotism is ruling the roost year after year, decade after decade. And, nobody has the voice to protest against these sycophants or typical corrupt practicesThey have money and muscle to repair or buy anything in this world, except justice.

We are absolutely deprived and unfortunate from seeing the real, kind-hearted politicians, who think about society’s welfare and people’s wellbeing.

Such nepotism bred parasites sit on the magic seats and pocket the taxpayers’ money, paying no heed to the problems of their respective areas.

We are also responsible for this inconvenience showered upon us, for being servile towards corrupt politicians. Still, I hope for the day when awareness, courage and right decisions will help to show us the justice for this society.

every year millions of highly eligible and extremely talented youngsters come running to the city of dreams for auditions to try their careers in the Hindi film industry, to establish themselves as a model of some sophisticated brand, or become a playback singer or a dancer, choreographer, et al. The passion, zeal and hard work that they put in their respective fields are obviously unignorable.

the Hindi film industry, to establish themselves as a model of some sophisticated brand, or become a playback singer or a dancer, choreographer, et al. The passion, zeal and hard work that they put in their respective fields are obviously unignorable. But their dreams shatter while watching some extremely overrated immature of star kids grabbing their positions in a blink of an eye. It’s heartwrenching when they can’t afford huge money to bribe their way in. They are simply driven out of the field with baggage or remain an extra or junior artiste for a long time.

Their talent and hard work fail in ‘another audition’ — countless ones, most of the time. The only reason behind it is they are ‘strugglers’ and they don’t have money or pedigree. The star kids of some prestigious directors, or of some famous actors or actresses steal the cake. They are the torch bearers of Bollywood.

That’s the reason films and lowgrade acting of such people are adversely affecting Bollywood. Often, the real talents remain hidden behind the curtains, broken with their shattered dreams. The advantageous star kids attend award shows as nominees with their heavy makeup and outfits by some celebrity designers. With every step they forward towards holding an award or nomination, the deprived talents waste their chances of watching them on the silver screen or the televisions.

Nepotism stifles their desires for living. They dwell in the abyss of utter despondency. Often depression leads them to suicide. This is the way an overrated star kid becomes a superstar

Bollywood and politics have been the two main breeding places of nepotism. Nepotism not only demeans the quality of these two fields but also keeps us in the darkness from knowing the real gems of our society. If we don’t raise our voices against the corrupt system of inheritance, we will never ever uproot such deep-rooted corruption.
