The second wave of Covid-19 wreaked havoc in everyone’s life either by snatching away the loved ones or by forcing the people to pay visits to the hospital an ample number of times.
People might wish during their entire life that a month like April should never recur. But they seem to have forgotten that they are inviting such tragedy yet again into their homes. Call it a lack of knowledge or the choice of living in oblivion. Not all people are following social distancing, and hence, the numbers have started rising again. While some of us are trying to keep the infection at bay, others are keener on going towards the bay and facing the infection!
High Rate of Unemployment
While the people (and the government) in other countries are focusing on more relevant issues like #righttorepair, we are still reeling under the pressure of inflation of prices and a high rate of unemployment. Sadly, it doesn’t seem that the country is standing united in this fight, for people have developed the attitude of brushing aside the issues that matter the most.

Well, in a way, they are right. The NSA Act gives the people in power more power to accuse anyone who tries to voice out their opinion in any form. Whether it is about the shortage of vaccines, or the mistreatment meted out to the patients at certain hospitals. No one can (now) muster enough courage to go against the powerful.

Petrol prices have skyrocketed yet salaries are stagnant. But who shall question? Isn’t it better to keep mum and be a mute witness to all the wrongdoing than blot your copybook?

As if this is not enough, the new Population Control Bill is inviting suggestions and modifications from the public. Really? We are being asked to speak so that our words can be accounted for and then, we can be happily sent behind the bars!
The new bill proposes to bar the people with more than two children from government services and take away all the government benefits too. The ironic part here is that the bill is being moved by Ravi Kishan, the MP who has four children! Mind you, I am not questioning the choice of representative in any way. But I am questioning the patience level and the ability to reason of the general public.
Meaning of Democracy
Probably, we need to go back to our school days to understand the true meaning of democracy. Probably, we should read about tyrants and their impact on a country. Or probably, we should just slap ourselves to be back to reality! If not anything, the least we can do now is to fight what’s within our capacity. The least we can do is to wait and analyse the situation at hand. The least we can do is to fight Covid-19 and delay the third wave for as long as possible!

It pains my heart to see people posting pictures of their travel expeditions. And then the same people blame the government when someone in their family becomes a victim of the virus. Ounce of Awareness
If not anything, at least an ounce of awareness can help, isn’t it?
The rain of problems is going to become stronger in the coming days.
It’s not just these issues that are going to have long aftermath. There are several more. But our umbrella can only shield us from a few of them. The rain of problems is going to become stronger in the coming days. And in no probability, we will be able to remain dry and safe!
