Although it does have a startling effect on the audience, a mentalist must maintain the charm of magic yet remain connected to the natural science behind their trick. Mentalism is a psychologically boosted trick, as against Karnapishachini Vidya. Still, it also can breach privacy, make people vulnerable and insecure, and may have an adverse mental impact on the mentalist himself or herself for pushing her brain more than required to know a little more!
Karnapishachini Vidya, however, shares that the result of mentalism is vastly different in approach. It is based on mastering a supernatural force called Karnapishachini, who can whisper all the secrets of any person you wish to know about in your year. The Tantriks who claim to have mastered this vidya seem to know about the past, future, and present and the intentions of people around them. The overuse of this vidya can even lead to the practitioner’s death, given that you are mastering a kind of ‘demon’ here. In this world, controlling our inner demons is such a task. Forget about controlling a supernatural external entity. Hence, people who practice such vidya hardly expose themselves or put on a show. They mostly use it for their vested interests and remain confined to their cult of Tantriks.
