Finding Sanctuary in the Chaos

Desire signs the blank paper of dreams.
Sleep has been sick since we transferred
to this city. Now it expires. I water
the garden of sight. My eyes sail away
to the midpoint of sinking, and stabilise
the wrecking with an anchor. The garden
feels all of the wind’s stings. I dig a hole
large enough to bury the desire.
By now, you're quite awake. I offer
you a shot of Monday coffee.
A crow on the window declares that
we cannot leave this moment's sanctuary.
