Kushal explores the weight of displacement and the sanctuary of the present moment in this evocative piece for DifferentTruths.com.
Desire signs the blank paper of dreams.
Sleep has been sick since we transferred
to this city. Now it expires. I water
the garden of sight. My eyes sail away
to the midpoint of sinking, and stabilise
the wrecking with an anchor. The garden
feels all of the wind’s stings. I dig a hole
large enough to bury the desire.
By now, you're quite awake. I offer
you a shot of Monday coffee.
A crow on the window declares that
we cannot leave this moment's sanctuary.
