Goa is the ultimate destination for travelers in a mood for that perfect relaxation! The carefree lifestyle, the exotic beaches, sandy seaside, swimming, snorkeling, sailing, cycling, etc. all are fun-filled activities to be enjoyed besides the breathtaking views around! The beaches are endless and one could just chill away. It is advisable to travel light, a suntan cream being a must though. So off you go into the bustling beaches of Goa!

One could visit Goa ideally between October and April. During this period, limited accommodation is available but if you plan your trip in advance, you could make sure that you have a comfortable place to stay. It rains heavily during the other months and that makes sight-seeing very difficult. Beaches are in plenty, just to name a few, Agonda beach, Mandrem, Cola, Varca, Benaulim, Utora, etc. One could take a tourist bus to Old Goa for tracing the rich cultural heritage. A trip to Panaji can be really a good package, covering Keri Beach, Majorda, Shantadurga temple, St. Alex Church and St. Francis Xavier Church.
Panaji is the state’s capital, while Vasco da Gama is the largest city. The historic city of Margao still exhibits the cultural influence of the Portuguese, who first landed in the early 16th century as merchants and conquered it soon thereafter. The Goa Carnival is celebrated on a grand scale in the state of Goa, where it is known as ‘Intruz’. The largest celebration takes place in the city of Panaji. The Carnival is unique to Goa in India, and was introduced by the Portuguese, who ruled over Goa for over four centuries. However, because Dubrovnik-Goa trade predates the Portuguese era.

Momo takes over the state and the streets come alive with music and colour. Huge parades are organised throughout the state with bands, dances and floats out all night on the streets, and grand balls held in the evenings. In Sambalpur, Sitalsasthi carnival is celebrated according to the Hindu calendar on the sixth day of the bright fortnight of the month of Jyestha. It is celebrated for two days and one night, when the streets come alive with music and folk dances. As recent as last week, the Carnival was a huge success in Goa bringing forth the rich culture alive, in full vigor and spirits!
It is a must to mention the exotic cuisine of Goa, influenced by Hindu, Christian, Muslim and Portugese kingdoms. The traditional fish curry prepared with Kokam and served with rice is cooked in earthen pots with aromatic spices.

Exotic dishes like Khatkhatem, a mixed vegetable, Megloho, a preparation of pumpkin and papaya are must haves! So is the famous Pork Vindaloo and the famous drink, Cashew Feni. Bebinca and Dodol are delicious sweets made with coconut, jaggery and eggs as the key ingredients.
