…to Kiss Death

if death is inevitable
then why to fear it?
why not wait for it
to visit us with flowers
and knock on the doors?
i know it is painful
to think of going away
and never being able to return
but is it as painful as
they want us to believe?
isn’t it what peace looks like?
if so, will peace not have a cost?
what if everyone around you
want you here so that you can suffer
as they are and will when you leave?
i don’t know the answers
nor do i make any claims
yet if you ask me
i will tell you this

i don’t intend to die
but if death visits me
i will be happy to kiss her
