Spread the love

Reading Time: < 1 minute

A poignant love poem of loss and longing, by Suchismita, exclusively for Different Truths.

The day you left me
Wasn’t the day I was broken.
I was shattered the day when
I knew you would leave me soon
Like the rain leaves the monsoon alone
At the edge of the month of August.
I knew I was soon going to be bland,
Like the naked trees of winter.
Flabbergasting wasn’t your departure
But were the creaks in the wall of our bond
That proved how bleak and delicate
Was our relationship like the sad poetry,
Hidden in the yellow pages of a diary.
Now I am bereaved, extremely agonised
And wait for your miraculous comeback.
Unrequited love of mine pours the drops,
Of unwavering longing for you.
Only if you knew how eternity looks.
A dying spring flows in my veins
And I eye for you in the monsoon rain.
