Tirtho in DifferentTruths.com reflects on transformation, memory, and the quiet evolution of the self through seasons of change.
Another season leaves me
with changes I can't understand.
I wonder if I am the one
I was
before its onset.
Something deep within beats
to a different pattern now.
It doesn't feel like my old heart of passion.
My eyes pass over sights once I fancied;
They see through things now --
views I had never known before.
I don't tread those paths of hurried pursuit;
my steps resist the pace.
I feel at ease with an undefined slowness.
The bitten tongue oozes blood;
it doesn't heal like it used to.
The scar stays; the taste lingers.
Memories of cherished moments
That were once my mind's sanctuary
struggle to find a space within my thoughts.
I am writhing in them now.
