Subramanian brings us a stark, beautifully poignant poetic meditation that lays bare the existential struggles of unrecognised genius and the quiet agony of ageing creative minds.
Talent is a firefly, a moment.
Of light in the dark.
In this land, it’s a disquieting wait
For the blossom to bear fruit!
Dark shadows, a lifelong mate,
Fireflies ever chasing light!
Here, talent is never able to bloom
In a convivial bed.
It is an arduous trek to glean
Few sparklers on your palm!
When grey hairs nudge the back
Bones cleave to the coffin!
These senescent thoughts
Are a dewdrop on a palsy leaf
Beyond the pale of silence.
