The Rule of Ego

Here’s an inward looking love poem by Anoucheka, for Different Truths. The verse examines the paradoxes of ego. She finds resolution in the ego that is often decried by one and all.

I let Love go
For Love showed itself as rough and tough
Rude and rash
Selfish and egocentric
Arrogant and brutal
Ugly and roguish
I let Love go
Chasing rainbows
Uncovering treasures
Tasting new wonders
Owning the world
Being a King
Yes
Being not only its own King
But being,
King to the world
King to the universe!

I let Love go
For Love showed that it was ruled by Ego!

But I was ruled by same
For
Instead of submitting
I chose to show my front as bold
Hurt, yes, but dignified
Full of egocentric warmth for myself!

Why, is such not the way life rolls on Earth
Ego, our new ruler
Ego, our glorious new ruler!

Pray, a woman I am
A woman made of fragile skin
A woman made to look like a butterfly
Easily blown away in a thunderstorm
Easily captured and encaged
But since
Feminine Ego rules over me
I have learnt to enjoy the taste of freedom!
Yes,
I do take the time to enjoy the taste of freedom
And smile
When I think of Love
Love, seeming to be so innocent
So pure, so angelic
Yet
Love,
Rough and tough
Rude and rash
Selfish and egocentric
Arrogant and brutal
Ugly and roguish!

Rule of Ego
Rule of the righteous!
