Long-Distance Love and Lingering Regrets

It's Saturday evening, and the phone rings
When an abrupt burst of buried memories
Reverses the today's clock
Back to those days
Of titters and giggles,
Of snippets of walk and talk,
Of care and share,
Of rebukes and retaliations.

The voice I know
Owing to old familiarity or
Rather more of an affinity of affection.
Again, I become the I and
She becomes the she
Whom the mighty waves
Pushed once afar,
But everything has to settle down.

Matter it doesn't
If her morning is my evening
And the stern and always-anxious Time
Comes in between the long-awaited waves
To blow the dying
Embers of the fire are ablaze
Only to burn those sprouted
Grudges and apologies.

  • Very beautifully expressed emotions. The value of relationship and the usage of memory to revive present is excellent…!!! “Matter it doesn’t”, I loved this construction…!! Kerp writing Dear Vickey David.

  • Beautiful poetry with full of extreme emotions of love and happiness…. togetherness… 🥰🥰💐💐💐👏👏👏👌👌

  • Génial ! A sense of calm, beautiful, adorable moment captured. In today’s world love comes with a cost(either money or sex) but this poem revives the love which is of togetherness, mental connection.

  • Nature of feelings, perfectly captured…your words are so beautiful!! Amazing brother…keep Posting like this

  • Poem is very short and easy way to express many things in some lines.. how it happens! When the writer writes like vicky david 💖
