A Placid Lake

Dr Molly serenades nature in this poignant poem, exclusively for Different Truths.

placid lies
           the lake
at peace
           with itself...
waters serene
           reflecting
the depths...

beauty
            unfolds
on both sides,
            red, yellow, green

even the
            cricket
hiding
            in the
thicket
            savouring
silence...

the green
            boughs, leaves
in sedate
            communion...
water rubs
            gently over
the random
             rocks
that
             were always
already there...

the lone
             stork
self-reflexive...
             moments!
