Love and Blood in the Spring Equinox

Our Spring is Falgun Chaitra
Their Spring is March-April-May
Our Spring drenched in Rang de Basanti
Our Spring, a splash of rainbow hues
Our Spring sprinkles laughter, song, and dance
Our Spring is full moon nights
Flowers bathed in a rain of golden rays
Streaming from the star-studded blue

Our Spring is love and lovers
Flute strains draw them close
Those who play hide and seek
In the light and shadow
Of moonlit nights

Their Spring is a thousand golden daffodils
Their Spring is clusters of enchanting red roses
Their Spring is when rivers, lakes, and canals
Flow restlessly again after the icy meditation

Their Spring is a crown of thorns
A bleeding forehead nailed hands and feet
‘April is the cruellest month,’ said the poet
For like always, like now and evermore
Everywhere in our Spring and their Spring
Blood will be spilt throats will be slit
Yet again, a merciful cry
In every murderous Spring

“FORGIVE THEM FOR THEY KNOW
NOT WHAT THEY DO”
