Be Neurotic!

A tongue-in-cheek account about Coronavirus by Dr Jas. An exclusive for Different Truths.

Obsessive-compulsive neurosis is a psychiatric disorder characterised by certain repetitive behaviours like frequent handwashing and many others. The condition is difficult to treat. However, Coronavirus, the minutest demon in history, has brought us to a state where obsessive-compulsive neurosis is a desirable trait. It will be even better if we combine it with paranoid behaviour.

So, please treat every human being with a high degree of suspicion. The definition of humanism has changed — instead of hugging or shaking hands, we are supposed to keep everyone at more than an arm’s length. Imagine that God is holding a contest every day — those whose hands will be the cleanest will get the reward of life. For once, alcohol is not thought of as a bad boy by many. Use Isopropyl-alcohol based sanitizer to clean door handles and other surfaces. Even if there is no virus on them, it will make them shine.

Some people think of humour about Coronavirus as a sign of insensitivity. But humour is a stress buster for sure and may obviate the need for taking Alprazolam pills. There is no doubt that Coronavirus is a notorious serial killer. But worrying about it every day and night will lead to a lot of indirect adverse effects — depression, high blood pressure and loss of appetite. It is just a matter of perspective. Heart attack, cancer and stroke have not gone on leave. In the normal course, we aren’t thinking of them all the time.

Coronavirus has overtaken celebrities as the most googled one. Let us wish it fizzles out soon, like the election promises of political leaders.
