You Need a Form to Pray?

Saranya questions the form of a deity to pray. Nature in its formless beauty beacons her, in this verse, exclusively for Different Truths.

A novice — I’m told by the wise, you need a form to pray
but shattered images are all I see to my utter dismay
sure you must be beyond these forms these rules
sure you must be more than just a muse of fools!

I’d rather be a believer who trusts in all things good
than force myself and be comforted by images carved in wood
I’d rather lift my ardent prayers to the vast nameless sky
than render rambles and chants to anything that meets the eye

Why lose sleep over names and symbols
why fight over faint old forms
when a streak of divine so avidly beckons
through each of nature’s norms

Why not revel, why not rejoice
in the unnamed cosmic dance
why not surrender, why not reason
why not give faith sans form a chance?
