Service to the Divine

Basudeb rationalises spirituality and raises a few tough questions, in this verse, exclusively for Different Truths.

What is spirituality?
Do we explain it?
Do we internalise it,
With our emotion and intellect both?
Yes, we may say a lot about spirituality,
But it is not our emotional reality,
It is our indolent fancy,
It is our mind’s luxury.

Belief in God or any mighty force,
Is Man’s emotional divorce,
From life’s harsh reality,
So do Man takes refuge,
In institutional religion and so called spirituality,
Every human being is a self-seeker,
In the name of divine prayer,
With a veneer of a highfalutin advisor.

What is Altruism or our love for fellow beings?
Does a political leader or a social reformer,
Serves people for people’s benefits?
No, he does all welfare deeds,
To become immortal or being voted to power,
And to be a Minister after the next election over,
Marriage is a contract for a decent secured life,
We everyday make adjustment of any type.

Our life in our lifespan is our mundane bliss,
But we fear to confess it with our glees,
We divert and resort our minds to hypocrisy,
And try to live in a world of meaningless vanity.
Yes, we all are religious, for our fear,
Of our divine wrath, abstract and imaginary,
Every day we do something sinful,
With which we are beautifully awful.

Our life in struggle may play a straight bat,
To lead our life with conscience,
Free from our sense of guilt,
Is to serve God and to send our greed in exile,
Everyone may not help all,
It does not matter,
But all can be far away from harming others,
This can make our breath tenure happier.
