Serenity

A poignant poem about nature, by Sangeeta, exclusively for Different Truths.

Watch the cruising ducks in the brimming Lake Ontario
The serenity, they exude, is stunning
Like an epitome of harmony
Undeterred and unflinching
On the wintry waves they swim
As if posing for a freeze frame
Single or in a pair
Or sometimes the family entire
The hen and the drake floating on the icy surfs
In tow, the young ducklings
Rubbing their broad beaks, floating face-to-face,
They indulge in courtship
Very much alike wooing human lovers who waltz in synchronised steps,
Clasped arms and face-to-face!
