Poverty

Here’s a powerful poem by Sarala that exposes how men exploit his fellow beings, keeping them poor and hungry, in Different Truths.

Let our pens speak to the world
To get rid of the poverty
All are busy filling up their pockets
With that dirty money they earned
By hoarding and crooking
all and sundry
Squeezing out the last drop of blood
from the poor workers
Struggling throughout day and night
Their children carrying heavy loads
On their tender shoulders
Making them bent totally on their spine and hurting their fragile body!
They go to sleep with their parents
Having lil rice gruel and pickle!
Oh! The cruelty going on in this
The World is too much for my pen
My pen keeps on stopping and writing
as it weeps with sorrow!
Doesn’t the so called government have the heart to see these
Suffering masses while they spend away huge amounts on their vices
and enjoyment!
Let all join and try to do something
Alleviating the suffering of these
Poor, hardworking and the neglected lot!
I will keep on writing till the last drop of the ink is over and fill it up again
And write till this reaches the ears
Of the so-called illustrious and elite lot!
