Mental Suffering

Alienation adds to the turmoil and mental sufferings of a person. The contrast of the chirping birds with a bleeding heart is rooted in the legacy of romanticism. A sensitive poem by Vatsala, for Different Truths.

There’s a cool tropical morning breeze
outside,
Birds are chirping and inviting me to
sing along
But I have a heavy heart bleeding
in pain

I have trusted liars,
I have let cheaters trod
on my feet

Today, like a teenager slamming
the door,
Life bangs the truth in
my conscience’s eyes

In the depth of Silence,
In the enlightenment of Solitude,
I’m the sole doctor attending to
my own wounds.
