Sayantani’s poem, featured in Different Truths, explores the theme of waiting in the void for a journeying love, reflected in the ocean’s saltiness and tearful longing.
You went on a journey of avidness
Kept me waiting on the threshold of the void
The ocean is full of lonely steps
Is it just for me?
You are there in my dark
You are there in my song
The song of longing that avidness
Which stole my spirit.
Is that only the salt in the ocean
Or the saltiness in my eyes
It's the cynosure of dissemblance
That's a brooding elixir in my heart.
