Bird of Luck

A dark poem about belief and struggle, by Sonali, exclusively for Different Truths.

The bird of luck
Doesn’t get lucky enough
Unless it spreads its wings
Fighting inevitable winds
Untying the reliance on luck
The bird swings being tough
Conquers the blaze of lightning
Raindrop feels less frightening
Making the bird of luck realise
Its inner strength is not luck that makes it wise
A bird of luck can never fly
As luck to survive the sky
Is a theory constructed with lies.
