Embracing Japan: Cherry Blossoms and Zen Spirit

With cherry blossoms
aplenty around,
you felt
a part of heaven was opening up for you in Japan!

blossoms, pink, white, waving,
the gentle wind
blowing through, shedding petals all around...

I picked, touched and smelt...

Sure, there was a freshness sans any fragrance...

walking through the flower-carpeted earth, you felt
Japan was caressing you with its soft touch of care and love…

could well sense the sedimented
sorrow, the scars of the hurt, the world threw at it
by ruthless bombing in 1945.

While vast, expansive cities
like Tokyo, extend
tucked between hills,
there lie silent hamlets with houses, small
to withstand any
untoward volcanic eruption.

Japan! How Zen-like,
There is geniality
acceptance in you,
each sharing space for each...
no greed to outsmart, outperform,
jostle for dominance, suppressing others...

Japan!
How well you show,
the greed to gather excess
is not the right alibi for our troubled times...

The more you have,
it disgusts! Only sharing gives joy!
