Timeless Echoes: Waiting for a Vanished Presence

Whispers, murmurs, chirping, rumbling, cacophonies still afloat
Ah, but those wooden logs you rested upon are vacant.
The wacky laughter and funny banter
Those that once resonated in the air are missed.
Lurks now only an emptiness
As a morose breeze brushes around.
True that often the most beauteous causes a twinge of pain
Naive me, knew this not
As I waited and pined for.
The blank gaze glares out of the window
Pop up strange faces in the streets, but not you.
Dreams gush in
Ringing bells of laughter
And gleaming smiles
Silence, long and profound, then pervades.
