The Secret Psychology Behind Longing for Home

Stationed in
your cocoon
sometimes,
you yearn to
fly, floa
but once out
float free
you wonder
was it worth
taking the trouble?

the flight gets
delayed
stampedes arise
on the way...

the mad
mundane
disgusts...

you long for
the cosiness
of confines, your
safe world
where your doggie
awaited your
return,
your yard that
longed for your
care,
your soft part of
the bed
that well
blanketed
eased out,
your bundled up
frets...
your moments
with youself
your being
becoming...

wandering like
a flotsam
sometimes
your self,
an empty shell
devoured by
vacuum of
insignificance...

nothing to
connect,
account for...

hah! the mind
matters,
the flip sides,
motion, stillness
life in death
death in life...

  • Wonderful! Leaving the home is always painful, a sort of cutting off of the umbilical cord. But then individuation occurs only when one leaves the home, which is not only a brick and mortar thing, but the womb itself, the heim in German language,. The struggle throughout is of the homing desire. This is a very human dilemma, just like ‘to be or not to be’. We are always looking for a home; in human relations, in mother tongue, in memories of the home we left behind at some stage including the original, originary home, in the books we read or in what we create.
