Night of Repentance: Finding Peace Within

This night comes with
a reminder of my sins.

A dark patch of cloud
hides the moon.

I can't even see my shadow --
it slips into invisibility.

The sky rains guilt
like a meteor shower.

The soul is drenched;
it repents.

I wish to forgive myself
and look at the stars again.

But an unshakable memory
is too hard on me.

It accepts, but can't surrender
to an epiphany.
