Arundhati’s poem describes a gentle monsoon that awakens the soul—raindrops, lotus blooms, and inner surrender merge in this meditative ode to divine grace, exclusively for Different Truths.
The sombre clouds rumbling,
the drops of rain streaking from the welkin,
mingle in the tear drops akin.
The drops of rain on the lotus leaf,
afloat the pond, untouched by grief,
the pit pat on the verdant platter,
the swirling drops on the water,
soul-stirring emotions do matter.
In the gloom, silently, the lotus blooms,
unfurling the bud, the pink petals,
spread the radiance amidst the sepals.
My enclosed being, open unseen,
to the drops of monsoon,
thy essence is a boon,
my inner lotus radiates its fragrance,
as my being surrendered to the divine in reverence.
