A Journey from Emptiness into Longing and Love

This recess of the heart
can't stop echoing
with an unfulfilled wish.

It doesn't understand that
every yearning has the habit of
leaving behind a void.

I am grappling with voids and voids
and they have entwined themselves

in the roots of my nothingness.

The rain-drenched evening breeze
fills the room.
I can smell a dream's whiff;
it's so near, and yet so far.

I try to touch my sighs – but fail.

An emptiness sits beside me,
and as I flip through a page of memory,
a lost moment's wails
jolt me out of my half-trance.

My breaths now feel like sinking
as the setting sun.
Shadows devour the last trace of hope
on the horizon...

As I stand helplessly
on a precipice
and watch myself drawing towards an unknown –

a voice emerges from an unseen chasm

and pulls me in.
