The Void

A poem of desperation and hope, by Concetta, exclusively for Different Truths.

I sit in the void
Thoughts abound
Some good, some bad

The light flickers
Bright
Brighter
D
azzling
Brilliance
As the shadows recede; burnt
Into the darkness

The light begins to return
Unhurried
Slow
Imperceptible
The ego returns
To strengthen, restore, improve
The soul, the essence of the person

To fight the good fight
To extinguish the spark
Before it burns
Before the brilliance comes back
Before the fire becomes an inferno
The void lifts
Leaving me exhausted.
