Twin Souls

An evocative poem about soulmates, by Christine, exclusively for Different Truths.

Not identical twins,
but an expression in eyes mirrored perfectly,
in unison,
as they first tentatively ask,
gathering strength and courage,
as do the palest petalled blooms—
from baby powder pink
(You’ll miss it if you blink!)
gathering depth and meaning
through leaves only tinily greening;
until the warmth and truth of love-pink shines through;
making the questing, hopeful light of tomorrow asks, ‘WHO?’

“Who could love me like you do?”
We have known many kinds of love,
but this one?
This one is unique,
revealed to few.
We know not why the bond that grew
Entwined the lives of me and you.
The crimson cloak of courage
crept firmly ’round us.

Two hearts,
two souls,
forever bound,
eternally young;
safe in the grip of each other’s hands,
of each other’s hearts.

We dress ourselves in the healing hues
of emerald-green, shades of renewal, hope;
ever and forever,
redefining
rebirthing itself.
Cold winter months apart
cannot dim our sense of
hope and harmony.

We have been before;
we will be again,
and again.
Through a mysterious
and magical bonding,
defying rational reasoning…
only we will comprehend.
And when it’s over for one,
The other will know,
ever and forever,
it's simply another beginning,
waiting its perfect time
to emerge yet again,
into the rosy-pink glow
of another Springtime...
of renewed loving.
And we pray...
don't make us wait,
hurry on the day.
