Semelia’s Silence

An evocative poem on women-centric issues, of longing and pain, by Parvathy, exclusively for Different Truths.

Amorus, put his hands around Semelia.
In the caress, she felt overjoyed
And madness of desire, calmly
Soothed their minds, as no joys,
Could rejoice the souls more.

Tiny blood drops, her heart bleeds now-
Uncertain yet, how she was wounded
For her heart to bleed –
That oozed out, her life and joy,
To spare her from more grief and pain.

Semelia, shouldn’t have left Amorus
this soon, many yelled.
Counsels ever plead pauses,
But, no so the pains and pangs –
They do it at the wrong time, the right way.

Semelia's skivvies, did weigh much,
To her blood, and made her bleed,
And better, she died,
Than carrying the burden of chastity
She embraced the moment.

As, the best way to talk much is to keep silent.
The best way to keep alive, is being dead!
Amorus, was left talking and poor Semelia Undies –
Couldn't yet more bear the burden
And she left soon promising silence.
