O Bard of Bengal

A poetic tribute by Lily, on the 159th birth anniversary of Tagore, as Special Feature, exclusively for Different Truths.

O Bard of Bengal
O creator of Gitanjali
O Kobiguru, O Thakur!

The song you came to sing
Remains unsung till this day

I can see infinity stretched before me
I wonder where leads your path

Your divine gifts keep raining
Down on my greedy little hands

Our tryst with Destiny is uncertain
Your maps have meandered away

I fear my paper boats may drown
In this scary spate of virus floods

Let the shiuli blooms from your garden
Shower choicest blessings from heaven

Let querulous men bow at your altar
Let every head be without fear

O Bard of Bengal , O creator of Gitanjali
O Kobiguru, O Thakur!
