I Will be While I Am

An evocative poem by Eliza that asserts her identity, in a gender-centric poem, exclusively for Different Truths.

Eve was first,
and I?

I’m like the sun,
which blings –
real, yet elusive.

On the surface of eternity
man is only a flash.

She was and is,
I –
will be while I am.
