Unspoken Love

An evocative love poem by Anoucheka, which tugs at the heart, exclusively for Different Truths.

I shall die with my secret buried in my heart
I’ll swallow it in
Wait for it to digest
Gulp for some air
And fly to the skies
Where I will tell the Gods
That I did not have any opportunity to reveal it
To you, Love!

The Gods would watch me stonily
Then, they will lower their eyes
In an attempt to stop their tears from flowing
Knowing that they would have no choice
Than accepting
That as from now
We are no more to be deemed
As being the eternal lovers!

I would choose to be part of the soils of Earth
As they are that which provide food
To the many children treading upon it,
Willingly or forcibly!

I would choose to be of meaning and purpose
As while I was a human
I simply used and abused
Without really being of good use!

As for you, I know they would be lenient with you
After all, this whole burden
Of having to fall into a rotting world
Simply to save me
Was imposed upon you!

Had I been given an opportunity to reveal my secret to you
You probably would have laughed in my face
Taking me to be a mere doll
Meant to be played with at times
And to be kept on shelves at others!

I’ll die with it buried in my heart,
A broken one, surely, having agonised
The whole time it existed
But it mattered not, and it shall never do
As long as Life can keep going on
As long as Earth can keep revolving
And the cosmos can keep on being!
