A Glass of Time

An evocative poem by Dr. Tejaswini, exclusively for Different Truths.

Hey, why do you come to me
only with a glass of time…?
You put it before me
and astonished, I start sipping.

Lost in your eyes deep, blue
I lose half of my time.
Espying the loss,
I slow down the rhyme.

Evening melts into it,
stars rise from the surface.
I try to extend my glass;
you allow it knowing the limit.

If I don’t sip them,
it loses the taste
with the last one,
you rise with unrest.

I realise, it’s not you
that has brought the glass
but the destiny has handed it
to you, the delicious time to cross.
