Serendipity

An evocative love poem by Nilakshi for Different Truths.

It was a year or two before
That I felt that sense of being left out
That abnegation…
When the favourite colour of sky was what I started watching, cerulean …
Less than dark at midnight
Not quite as light as dusk
When I lay awake beside you
As you turned your back and slept
With a sense of peace and quiet
And I turned to sift through your playlist
Of eclectic stuff …
ghazals and hip-hop,
Bauhaus greats and
Baul strains
And I found it was your mind
That I loved the most
Not you, not the man you were
But how you thought…
How you
Chose your music
Read your  books
Played those notes
Cared for the flowers
That’s when I knew
It was serendipity
That I found you
Waiting across time zones
Over the raging sea.

  • Loved it. It kind of resonated with me. I always believe we fall in love with a thought process, with the beautiful mind one possesses. Looks just initiates the attraction part of love
