Three Reasons You Should Enjoy Mangoes to This Summer

Ritambhara tells us three benefits of eating mangoes to our heart’s content, in the weekly column, exclusively for Different Truths.

It’s summer and the “King of fruits” is delightedly savoured by us all. More than 1000 varieties of mangoes are grown across the world, out of which 283 are found in India. Apart from being sweet palatable, the fruit is loaded with an abundance of vitamins, minerals, and anti-oxidants which take care of your health. Here are the three health benefits of mangoes you shouldn’t overlook as they will ward off all the myths.

Apt to Fight the Scorching Heat in Summer

Nature adequately provides us with what we need and when we need to. To fight the scorching heat in the summers, juicy mango pulp mixed with water or milk is instrumental in cooling down the body temperature and preventing it from overheating. Due to the immense heat, loss of water in the form of sweat takes place at a very fast rate and the mangoes help in maintaining this balance.

Strengthens Immune System and Helps Prevent Cancer

Mangoes supply good amounts of vitamin A and C, carotenoids, and antioxidants, which keep our immune system healthy and have been reported to safeguard us against cancer.

Offers Radiating Skin and Makes You Slim

Contrary to the common view that eating mangoes leads to pimples, mangoes can be eaten as well as applied externally to clear the clogged pores, allowing the skin to breathe and get rid of pimples. Apart from a radiating skin, eating mangoes will help you lower the cholesterol levels as it contains high levels of vitamin C, fibres, and pectin.
