CRISIS BREAKING: Red Fort blast kills eight. Delhi on high alert as police investigate ‘Explosion’ vs. ‘Attack’ Cause, reports Rita, from New Delhi, for Different Truths.
NEW DELHI: A powerful, high-intensity explosion ripped through a parked car near Delhi’s historic Red Fort Metro Station (Gate No. 1) on Monday evening (Nov 10), resulting in multiple casualties and triggering a city-wide high alert.
Incident: A blast occurred inside a car parked near the heavily frequented Red Fort area at approximately 6:55 PM (IST) on Monday.
Casualties: Preliminary reports from Delhi Police and local hospitals confirm at least eight (8) people are dead, with an estimated six to twenty-four others injured. The toll is feared to rise.
Damage: The force of the blast caused the initial vehicle to catch fire, with the blaze spreading rapidly to three to four nearby cars, all of which were reportedly gutted.
Response: Seven fire tenders were rushed to the scene to control the extensive fire. The Delhi Police Special Cell and forensic teams immediately cordoned off the area to collect evidence.
Investigation: Authorities have initiated a high-level probe to determine the exact cause of the explosion, investigating whether it was an accident or a planned attack.
Security: A high alert has been sounded across the National Capital Territory of Delhi, and security has been significantly tightened, especially in crowded and sensitive zones.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have yet to release a definitive statement on the nature of the explosion.
The situation remains highly sensitive, and while rescue and security operations are complete, a definitive, official conclusion on the cause of the explosion is still pending from the authorities.
Current Key Findings & Status
Casualty Confirmation: Delhi Police have confirmed that at least eight (8) people were killed in the explosion. Around 6 to 24 individuals were reported injured and transported to nearby hospitals.
Cause of Explosion: The exact reason for the high-intensity blast is unknown at this hour.
A Delhi Police official was quoted as saying, “As of now, I can’t tell you anything. Investigation is being done.”
Forensic teams and the Delhi Police Special Cell are on the scene, examining the remnants of the car and the blast site to determine if the explosion was caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) or a severe accidental ignition (e.g., a CNG cylinder or fuel tank explosion).
Security: A high alert remains in effect across Delhi and has also been sounded in surrounding states like Uttar Pradesh. The area around the Red Fort Metro Station (Gate No. 1) is still completely cordoned off as the investigation continues.
In summary, the casualty numbers are confirmed by police, but the most critical information—the official cause of the blast (accident or attack)—awaits a forensic report and official police statement.
